Coated barrier film

PVDC coating line for barrier film

Such film uses a base like OPP or BOPET. By using the coating process an additional layer of a coating material with suitable barrier properties such as PVDC or Acrylic or PVOH is then applied to obtain the desired overall barrier feature. The coating thickness varies with the desired barrier level. But to obtain a manageable range of barrier film products a range of standard films is offered to cover most known applications. Since coated barrier films are often reverse printed and then laminated to a thicker ‘carrier’ film they usually come fairly thin as a standard. Please see our list of standards on the ‘Film Range’ pages.

Metallised barrier film

Aluminium Metallising line

For aluminium metallised film mostly OPP or CPP base film is used. In some applications PET is desirable as base film. Metallisation is used for the resulting good barrier properties and for a desirable visual effect. In some applications its anti-static properties are useful. Again, a range of standard films with a number of thicknesses is offered here. Please see our list of standards on the ‘Film Range’ pages.

Multi-layer co-extruded barrier film

9-layer barrier blown film line

In these films the film carrier strength and the barrier properties are combined in one co-extruded structure. Advantage here is that lamination is not required to obtain the combined properties of barrier and strength which results in generally lower cost compared to laminated structures. A disadvantage can be that any print is not sandwiched and therefore not protected unless lacquered. Please see our list of standards on the ‘Film Range’ pages.

Other film: PLA - CPP - OPP

We offer a number of non-barrier films and compostable films for other applications. Typically these are CPP and OPP with a number of thicknesses and widths. Also PLA. Please see our list of standards on the ‘Film Range’ pages.

PLA film

This is fully compostable film according to the properties of PLA. EN13432 certification is applied for and approval is certain but certificates are still outstanding. PLA film is now available in sample quantities. There are pure PLA film types and starch modified versions. More information will be released soon. If you are planning PLA film projects talk to us now and we will take your wishes into account for our stock planning.

CPP film

CPP is used mostly in packaging applications. Our high clarity CPP film normally comes as outside printable – inside heat sealable configuration and in a number of standard thicknesses and widths. Typical applications are in laminated film structures.

OPP film

Again, packaging is the biggest application. Our standard type is both sides heat sealable and A-side (outside) corona treated. Our standard width is around 1000 to 1200 mm and we can slit to the right size for you if you do not have your own slitting facility. Alternatively we will stock your dimensions for your regular demand.
